Quote of the month – “It takes courage…to endure the sharp pains of self discovery rather than choose to take the dull pain of unconsciousness that would last the rest of our lives.”
― Marianne Williamson.

Our Subconscious is where our core values and belief systems stem from. It is where creativity and emotions are generated, and it stores long term memories.
Hypnotherapy bypasses the conscious mind and allows direct access to the subconscious. By having a better understanding of what is stored in the subconscious, through hypnotherapy, positive, long lasting changes can be made that affect how we feel and act.
So… Why Hypnosis?
Hypnosis allows direct access to the subconscious and can alter and re-frame old unwanted beliefs which results in positive changes physically, mentally and emotionally. It is imperative to change or alter what is in our subconscious mind, or to explore and understand it in order to create and facilitate positive fulfilling change.
Why Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a very powerful therapeutic tool that uses hypnosis and allows the conscious mind and the subconscious mind to work together to use all the potential power of your mind to achieve goals, change unwanted behaviors and beliefs, and resolve inner conflicts.
At some point in our adult life, most of us have set goals for ourselves and somehow get distracted and our willpower fades, whether the goal is to quit smoking, manage our weight, make a career change… the list is endless.
A perfect example of this when people make New Years resolutions and are completely focused on achieving their goals, but after a few weeks, their willpower fades and they fall back into old patterns of behavior. The reason that we can get off track is that our willpower is located in our conscious mind which makes up 5-10% of our potential mind power compared to our subconscious mind which makes up 90-95% of our potential mind power. Hypnotherapy works because hypnosis allows direct access to the subconscious mind and can change old, unwanted, outdated beliefs that cause us to fall back into negative patterns of behavior that keep us stuck.
Cause and Effect.
It is sometimes important to treat an issue that someone is having at its very root or cause. If you just treat the symptom then the same issue may return. A good metaphorical example of this is if you were to just cut the top of a weed off, it would grow back, but if you pull it out by the root… it will not.
Having a deeper understanding and dealing with the root of an issue can be imperative. For example when someone sheds a few pounds by making healthier lifestyle choices, and then gains it back chooses hypnotherapy to become more motivated to exercise and make healthier lifestyle choices, which are excellent goals, and achieves them with great success but, somewhere down the road gets off track. One reason could be that when they were a child and became upset, their mom or dad would take them for ice cream, or give them their favorite treat.
Now embedded in their subconscious is that “food makes me feel better”, and as an adult they turn to food for comfort and overindulge or make poor food choices when feeling emotionally overwhelmed, and then gain the weight back and become unmotivated again.
By having a deeper understanding that when they were emotionally overwhelmed as a child, that they were conditioned that food was going to make them feel better, through hypnotherapy, the belief that food will make them feel better emotionally, can be changed or re-framed so that the new belief is that food is used to nourish their body and keep them healthy. As a result they now have a better relationship with food and can now learn different coping mechanisms to deal with emotional stress, and no longer turn to food for comfort therefore keeping the weight off for good, as opposed to just using a “band-aid” approach and addressing only the symptoms.
